Off Season Tasks Complete, New Season Begins

Moro, OR – The all-volunteer Museum Team at the Sherman County Historical Museum recently completed a rigorous round of off-season tasks and is happy to announce an interesting summer calendar of events.  Museum activities start with a May exhibition by Sherman County student artists and a Mother’s Day Twilight Tea with author Jane Kirkpatrick on May 6th.

The Museum Team focuses on education, information and collections management, and invites new volunteers to apply for several volunteer staff openings: Acquisitions Committee Chair: convenes the Acquisitions Committee twice-yearly and maintains records of in-coming objects; Acquisitions Committee: meets twice-yearly to review and apply criteria to incoming objects and makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees; Collections Managers: maintain, organize and preserve artifacts in storage; Exhibit Team Leader: manages existing exhibits, plans and develops exhibits, conducts research and works closely with the Exhibit Team Technicians, Registrar and Museum Director; Exhibit Team Technicians: assigned to their choice of exhibits; maintain, update and plan exhibits, conduct research and produce labels; Visitor Information Center Manager: maintains the Visitor Information Center brochure racks in the Museum lobby.

The Museum Team will be working behind the scenes on Thursdays during the summer months. The national-award-winning Museum is open daily from 10-5 May through October.
